“FLOG IT”

It was a cold February morning down at the Crown Inn and it was the day of our first charity auction. The Awsworth Community Association had never done an event like this before and we did not know what to expect.

Keith, our ever supportive burger man, was ready to go, so all we needed next was some punters. Slowly and surely they started to wander in, casting their eyes over the huge amount of lots (more than two hundred in total).

The atmosphere was tense as they started to take their seats, the clock hands slipped past the hour of 2.00 o’clock, then our auctioneer Steve (THE DUKE) Welch, was ready to begin.

Away he went, raising pound after pound for 'PARTY ON THE REC 2' and by the time the hammer went down on the final lot, a staggering £535.00 had been raised - Absolutely Brilliant! You may be surprised to know, that this amount will cover the cost of the toilets or one of our entertainers in July. "Thank You" to all the people who donated items and all those buyers who made the day a success.

We are now at the half way mark for the total needed, to fund 'PARTY ON THE REC 2' - still a long way to go, but if we get support at our other fund raising events, it should be easy!
